Linked Hearts

02/09/10 - Linked Hearts - Similar to a short string of a baby's toy, these three linked hearts are united together in a string. There's just something very fun and playful about hearts that are all linked up to one another.

Separately these red hearts are not solid, but are hollow in the middle. This makes the center open and empty. When they are then posed on the kiln shelf, they are overlapped so that they then look like they are interlaced. When you are trimming the heart, the center of the piece is then cut as close as achievable to the outside of the piece. This gives the piece an open heart look that will enable you to link each of the individual pieces together.

Create all of the hearts out of whatever hue you want, or they can be individually cut out of very different colors. When you are finished cutting out the pieces they are then connected and placed so that they have a pleasing appearance. This design is a sweet and lovable Valentine project regardless of how they are layered.
